Experiments with ShapeCrete

I found out about ShapeCrete online. Essentially it is a kind of reinforced concrete that is much more user friendly because you can mix it to a clay-like consistency. I decided to take the plunge to make my first outdoor sculpture with this process. I used a mixed-media plaster original as the base. I then covered it in a 1/4 in layer of ShapeCrete. I wrapped the piece in plastic for it to cure, and 48 hours later it became a rock-hard shell. I plan to add a beaded netting around the rim of the piece. I don’t know how it will weather the weather, but I am excited to find out!
