In a previous post I described how I used Shapecrete (a concrete alternative) to make my first outdoor sculpture, and I have continue to explore its applications. In these two new works, the concrete surface provides and interesting contrast to the soft sewn skins of the figures and vessels. The best part of this material is that each of the forms above are hollow and thus much lighter than traditionally formed concrete shapes. I hope to soon be able to explore pigmenting the Shapecrete so I can add new colors.
