Experimenting with ceramic forms

In an attempt to create an extensive material vocabulary that parallels my conceptual interests, I have been experimenting with ceramic, particularly porcelain sculpture. The structures of these small scale sculptures are inspired by trusswork, specifically the construction cranes that are omnipresent in our contemporary urban lives.

Currently they exist as small material samples, but I am working towards creating large-scale modular pieces that can exist on a scale with the human body.

Also, noteworthy, is the timely overlapping of truss-related work with fellow Aferro resident Joe Silvestro. Interesting that our works have a similar inspiration, but vastly different visual output and conceptual meanings.
