Masakhane was started in order to provide the medically accurate, sex positive, pleasure-focused education young people in Newark were asking for. As you might know, most sex ed around the country does not work this way. Oftentimes, it is heteronormative, cisnormative, racist, ableist, misogynistic, adultist and medically inaccurate. So we’re asking folks to share why they need the real sex ed we (and other stellar organizations) provide. Here are some reasons our interns voiced:
